LIBERATO CACACE SIGNS TWO YEAR PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT

The Phoenix Academy is delighted to announce that Liberato Cacace has been rewarded for his excellent performances for the 1st Team at the back end of the A-League season by signing a new two year contract with the club.

Liberato will move with immediate effect out of the Academy and into the 1st Team environment for pre-season training starting in late June 2018.  Liberato who is a Year 13 at St Pats College will complete his studies late 2018.  After a stella ISPS Handa Premiership Season for the Reserve Team Liberato was handed his 1st Team opportunity due to an injury crisis.  He took that chance with both hands as he stayed in the squad for the remaining 7 matches of the 2017-18 A-League Season, strating 6 of those games and coming off the bench in the other.

Academy Director Paul Temple is delighted with the news "Libby deserves this contract for the hard work, dedicated and countless hours he has put in over the past 4 years in the Academy.  His performances in the Reserve Team last summer were obvious to many that he was ready to make the step up to the 1st Team and when he got his chance he took it".

"Libby is well respected within the Academy, his consistency & adaptablity have been key for him.  We've spent time eveloping him by playing him as a defensive midfielder, as a centre back in a back four and back three as well as fullback.  Being tactically adaptable is crucial in the modern game.  He is strong, powerful & athletic but can also dribble out of defence well and pick a pass when he needs to.  His attitude and work ethic are excellent and this is a great example for other younger boys in the Academy".
